A Special Teaching about Fasting.

A Special Teaching about Fasting.

The term ‘Fasting’ generally refers to a period of abstinence from food for the purpose of engaging in uninterrupted study, prayer and meditation with a clear objective and goal in focus.

Why is Fasting Necessary?

The scriptures are replete with numerous accounts of remarkable results and dramatic testimonies produced through Fasting. As Christians, Fasting is one of the godly exercises we should engage in regularly, with the promise of present and eternal benefits. The advantages are numerous, and here are a few:

Through Fasting, we can improve our effectiveness in the things of the spirit. In simple terms, Fasting helps you to tame the flesh and lift the spirit. As Christians, we are required to walk in the spirit, always. This means to be spirit-controlled and not flesh-controlled. This is important because Rom 8:6 says “…to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace” and also in John 6:63 our Lord Jesus said “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing….”.
So how does Fasting help you to tame the flesh and lift the spirit? One of the cravings of the body is food. It is a craving that is connected to the senses. When we fast, we deliberately abstain from food even though our body craves it. We resist the urge to eat thereby improving our mastery over the cravings of the body, and instead focus on activities that build the spirit. Of course, we could engage in activities that build our spirit without abstaining from food, but the abstinence from food adds a level of ‘seriousness’ and ‘discipline‘ to the exercise.

Fasting helps to sharpen our ability to receive or hear from God. It is like raising a spiritual antenna to pick the finer signals of the Spirit’s communication.
But how does this happen? When we Fast, abstinence from food is a key characteristic but that is not all. The Fasting exercise promotes focus and undivided attention to study and prayer. There should be a deliberate cessation of all unnecessary activity and a conscious increase in activities of that engage the spirit. This helps to unclutter the mind and remove the ‘noise’ or interference that often prevents the hearing of God’s voice. During a period of Fasting, many have received clear direction and heard the voice of God in a more distinct way than before.

Fasting can be a vehicle to effect dramatic and urgent change in things that pertain to us or even in the circumstances of others around us. In James 5:17 (amp) the scriptures assure us that “….the earnest (heartfelt)…prayer of a righteous man makes power available (dynamic)….” which means power to effect changes, shift things, re-arrange things in the present or in the future can be produced by me – when I pray a certain way.  So how do I ensure my prayer is earnest and heartfelt.
When you declare a Fast, you are raising the stakes. It is a declaration of seriousness and urgency in addressing the matter at hand. It helps you to be earnest in your prayers and certainly it will be heartfelt. Your heart is in it to the point that you are giving up eating to focus on the matter at hand. And when you pray like this, the results are guaranteed!

FASTING THE RIGHT WAY! MAKING IT EFFECTIVE…..

It is important to note that Fasting is not an effort to change God. When we fast, we are the ones that change and we are the beneficiaries of the Fast. Our Fasting does not change God for the scriptures say in Mal 3:6  “….I am the Lord, I change not…”
So with this in focus, here are steps that can make our Fasting more effective;

Have a clear objective in focus – what are your expectations from this Fast?
The period of Fasting must include regular intervals of prayer, study and meditation on the Word. Having a clear focus and expectation will help guide your prayer, study and meditation time.
Minimize unnecessary activity or distractions during the Fasting period. Though  solitude may not always be achievable, strive to be ‘alone’ with the Spirit as much as possible.
And while there is no single prescription for the length of a Fast, it should be sufficiently long to be effective. It ought to be long enough to span several normal eating periods. And you should be hungry at some point during the Fast. But this is not a reason to break it but rather to endure and continue! Remember, part of the training of the Fast is to curb the craving of the flesh and maintain focus on the spirit.

WHO SHOULD WE FAST, AND WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO FAST?

It is quite common for people to Fast when they are in dire need or in trouble, but you don’t need to be in trouble or in a messy situation to be compelled to Fast. We can Fast to improve our spiritual acumen, stay ahead of situations, make general improvements in our life and to prepare for a greater future.

And while anyone can Fast at anytime, there are special times when the Spirit of God leads us to Fast. These are special Fasting sessions not to be missed because they bear an accuracy and grace that is unusual. For instance, Our Pastor by the Spirit has instructed that the first Sunday of every Month is a Fasting and Prayer Sunday. And when he announced it, he told us that the Spirit asked us to do this, because He wants to bless us and that these special times will bring to us untold blessings. And it has been exactly that way!

Another special Fasting period is our end of year 3-day Prayer and Fasting program as directed by our Pastor. In the past years, these special Fasting programs have been pivotal in preparing us for the coming year, and helped to position us in perfect alignment with the plans and purpose of the Spirit of God for us.

The advantages of Fasting are numerous, and every Christian should benefit from it. What Fasting can do for you, may not be obtainable in any other way. And like many things in our Christian walk, the benefits come to you by doing. You may learn, read or even talk about Fasting – but that won’t bring the benefits. The benefits are realized when you do it. And thank God for our Pastor and Coach who has provided us with ample direction and opportunities to Fast regularly, and therefore partake of the numerous benefits of this divine and godly exercise!

Thanks be unto God for this indescribable gift!

Congratulations!

The Carnal Mind Vs. The Spiritual Mind

(Study Romans 8:5)
Those who are after the Spirit set their minds on spiritual things. That's what you're doing by reading this [article]. Your attention is on spiritual things concerning God, His son Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Kingdom of God.

Now, there are Christians who wouldn't be interested in this or any other kind of spiritual pursuit. They'd rather set their minds and attention on worldly [carnal] things, more appealing to the flesh.

The carnal mind is the mind that has been trained to only recognise, appreciate and desire worldly things that have no spiritual benefits. Those who set their minds on carnal things programme themselves for spiritual death  (Study Romans 8:6).

How do you live your life? Do you live according to your senses and the things that appeal to your outward man? If you live that way, you can't please God (Study: Romans 8:8).

If you're born again, your spirit is alive to God. You're not in the flesh but in the spirit, because God's Spirit dwells in you. You'll remain alive in Christ with the life He's given you.

NB:
We invite you to make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life by praying thus:

"O Lord God, I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God. I believe He died for me and God raised Him from the dead. I believe He's alive today.

I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His name, I have eternal life; I'm born again. Thank you Lord, for saving my soul! I'm now a child of God. Hallelujah!"

Congratulations! you're now a child of God. For more information, join a Christ Embassy Church nearest to you. God bless you.

                                                                                                                           Use Your Mind Right

It's critical that you understand how to use your mind right, because that's your ticket to the next and higher level you desire. One of the first things you must learn to do with your mind is to focus it on the right thing. (Study: Isaiah 26:3)

When you focus your mind, it helps to direct your energies and bring them to bear on a particular thing or activity. The Lord keeps him in the peace of prosperity whose mind is stayed (fixed, focused) on Him.

If you've ever asked or wondered what you're supposed to do for the power of God to work in your behalf and keep you in peace and prosperity, - stay your mind on the Lord. (Study: 1Chronicles 28:9, Romans 8:5)

You seek Him, not because He's missing and you're trying to find Him, but because you want to focus your heart, your mind, and your affections on Him. You do that by setting your mind on the Word of God.

Your spirit has the capacity to control your mind. You can decide that you want to set your mind on the things of God, and control your spiritual senses to conform to that decision.

Your mind is under your control, and you've got to acknowledge this truth, accept it, endorse it, and act like it.

"Think On These Things..."Protect Your Mind; It's Not An Open Field

There are people whose mind are like open field that anyone can go through and drop unwanted seed. When you leave your mind open this way, any worthless seed can be thrown in it and it'll grow.

(Study: Proverbs 4: 23).
You'd agree that if there's no enemy or adversary, there wouldn't be any need to guard something that belongs to you against an attacker. Truth is, there's an adversary, a devil out there trying to send the wrong thoughts into your heart (through your mind). So you're admonished to bar his evil thoughts.

If someone says something to you that challenges God's Word, bar it from your mind! Don't try to accommodate it or reason it out. You must recognise that God is not going to guard your heart for you. The responsibility is yours.

God didn't just instruct us to mount guard at the door of our hearts without showing us how. He told us the files to delete from our minds and the ones to download and replace them with (Study: Philippians 4:8).

God's Word has shown you what to dwell on as His child. It says it must be:
√ HONEST,
√ JUST,
√ PURE,
√ LOVELY,
√ OF GOOD REPORT,
√ VIRTUOUS, and
√ PRAISE WORTHY.

Now you may hear something that sounds honest or true but isn't lovely or of a good report; don't dwell on it, because it falls short of the measure of God's standard of thoughts to allow.

Perhaps, you're experiencing some challenges with your health, or the doctor has diagnosed you with a deadly disease. Now you're troubled and wondering what to do about your condition.

I want you to realise that in the eyes of God, such a report isn't true because it's not in line with His provisions for you revealed in His Word. So refuse to dwell on it. Reject it in Jesus' Name. Don't think on it, and don't voice it.

What you do with your mind is so important. Remember, you're the expression of your mind. Your mind can make you poor or rich. It can place you on the pedestal of glory and greatness or dump you in the dust of suffering and shame. Choose glory. Choose life. Choose to use your mind right.

Understanding The Mind

Indeed, understanding of the mind is not something that even the world's best scientists, doctors, historians...can give, for their finest explanations of the mind are speculatory at best. That's because the mind is an intangible, spiritual entity and only God's Word can shed the best light on it (Study: Hebrews 4:12).

The mind is the faculty of man's reasoning and thoughts. It holds the power of imagination, recognition, and appreciation, and is responsible for processing feelings and emotions, resulting in attitudes and actions.

Your mind has the ability to SEE, hear, perceive and interpret, even though you can't physically locate it in your body. It resides in your soul, and is a spiritual entity that only God can see.

When your eyes focus on an image, it's your mind that interprets that image, and that's when you really see. If your mind can't interpret it, it doesn't matter what the image is, it'll make no sense to you.

To better understand the mind, you need to have a clear understanding of the scriptural definition and description of the human person. Man primarily, has a twofold nature: the outward man and the inward man (Study: 2 Cor 4: 16).

The outward man is the physical body and its five senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste). The inward man, however, is the human spirit and his soul (the seat of his mind, will, emotions, reasoning and intellect).

The mind is capable of receiving and processing information from the outward man and its senses, as well as from the inward man and his spiritual senses. It is the connector of the physical or outward man and the spiritual or inward man.

The Mind as a connector of both spiritual and physical information

Renewing Your Mind:
The Concept Of Mind Management

After you come to Christ, God gives you new ways of thinking about Him, but you can't think like God except you have the right material to think on, which is His Word. God's Words are His thoughts clothed in vocabulary.

God has shown us that we can influence our thinking in other to become more productive, successful and prosperous. You can manage your mind and bring fourth excellence, greatness, success and prosperity. This is your responsibility, and God expects you to do it.
Scriptural reference
 Romans 12: 1-2)

Mind Management refers to the concept of reorganizing or reprogramming your mind (its contents and processes) with God's Word and aligning your thinking, perceptions and mindset about God, other people, the world and yourself, with His Word.

Who you are today is a function of your mind. That means you can work on your mind and change its contents, and that Change will show up in your character and the results you have in life.

Managing your mind is the primary principle for increasing your value ,multiplying your  success ,upgrading your state ,and thus, enlarging your estate.

Can you manage your mind differently regarding that situation? Can you access your mental hard drive to see what files you need to delete and the new ones you need to download and install? Yes you can, and you should.

You can  make your life happier  and much more fulfilling by making the right changes in the structure of your thinking

The Power Of Your Mind
A Book Review #1 (Introduction)
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Introduction:
God's greatest desire is for us to live victorious lives and continually enjoy His blessings bequeathed to us in Christ Jesus.

But one reason many are still struggling to live that glorious life is their inability to appropriate to themselves what God has already made available to them.

God in His loving kindness has, however, equipped you with a special instrument to help you appropriate and come into full possession of these manifold blessings. That instrument is your mind!

Your mind is unlimited in its potential to create whatever you desire. When you put your mind-power to work, the possibilities are endless. There are no limits to what you can achieve, and absolutely no restrictions to how high you can propel yourself.

Your prosperity is not essentially determined by your geographical location or the economy of the nation in which you live. What you become in life is largely determined by the content and quality of your mind.

All you need to know about Whatsapp end-to-end encryption

Whatsapp  end-to-end encryption

WhatsApp has always prioritized making your data and communication as secure as possible. And today, we're proud to announce that we've completed a technological development that makes WhatsApp a
leader in protecting your private communication: full end-to-end encryption. From now on when you and your contacts use the latest version of the app, every call you make, and every message, photo, video, file, and voice message you send, is end-to-end encrypted by default, including group chats.
The idea is simple: when you send a message, the only person who can read it is the person or group chat that you send that message to. No one can see inside that message. Not cybercriminals. Not hackers. Not oppressive regimes. Not even us. End-to-end encryption helps make communication via WhatsApp private – sort of like a face-to-face conversation.
If you're interested in learning more about how end-to-end encryption works, you can read about it here. But all you need to know is that end-to-end encrypted messages can only be read by the recipients you intend. And if you're using the latest version of WhatsApp, you don't have to do a thing to encrypt your messages: end-to-end encryption is on by default and all the time.
We live in a world where more of our data is digitized than ever before. Every day we see stories about sensitive records being improperly accessed or stolen. And if nothing is done, more of people's digital information and communication will be vulnerable to attack in the years to come. Fortunately, end-to-end encryption protects us from these vulnerabilities.
Encryption is one of the most important tools governments, companies, and individuals have to promote safety and security in the new digital age. Recently there has been a lot of discussion about encrypted services and the work of law enforcement. While we recognize the important work of law enforcement in keeping people safe, efforts to weaken encryption risk exposing people's information to abuse from cybercriminals, hackers, and rogue states.
While WhatsApp is among the few communication platforms to build full end-to-end encryption that is on by default for everything you do, we expect that it will ultimately represent the future of personal communication.
The desire to protect people's private communication is one of the core beliefs we have at WhatsApp, and for me, it's personal. I grew up in the USSR during communist rule and the fact that people couldn't speak freely is one of the reasons my family moved to the United States.
Today more than a billion people are using WhatsApp to stay in touch with their friends and family all over the world. And now, every single one of those people can talk freely and securely on WhatsApp.
